Elliott Sadler Rolls To Las Vegas With No. 19 Stanley Dodge Charger

This weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the No. 19 Stanley Dodge of Elliott Sadler won't be hard to find. The team will debut the Stanley Tool paint scheme on the Gillett Evernham Motorsports entry with red, yellow and orange flames on a black No. 19 background.

When the NASCAR Pre-Season Thunder Testing Session ended at Las Vegas in late January, Sadler had posted the sixth-fastest time of all teams in attendance. A major bulk of the Sprint Cup Series season is spent on the 1.5 intermediate tracks like Las Vegas; making the test session even more important.

Elliott Sadler Quotes

On the Las Vegas test session: "When we left the test session in Las Vegas, we were ready to race the next day because were so good. We're all still trying to figure out this new race car and being good at the 1.5-mile tracks is very important. We were really pleased with what we learned and how are car handled.

"The best part about that test was how much all three drivers from our Gillett Evernham team worked together. I talked a lot with Kasey (Kahne) and Patrick (Carpentier) about what each of our cars was doing. At one point, Kasey jumped in Patrick's car to get more of a feel of what his car was doing to help him more."

Past races at Vegas: "I've led the past two races there for a few laps, which is always a good thing. But, you have to be leading that one when the checkered flag is waving to get the trophy.

Last year, we started third and led 17 laps before finishing 14th. We want to do much better this year to keep earning all the points we can each week."

On being 13th in points: "Dodge had a great showing at the Daytona 500. We were just able to find each other and get in line and push each other. We overcame a lot at California. We won't know much until after Atlanta. We have three really fast race tracks in a row and we'll see where our engine program is through those. We'll figure out where our engineering is with these cars- talk to me after Atlanta and I'll tell you where we need to be to compete with Toyota and Chevrolet who, I think, are going to be the two real dominant teams to put up with this year.

"Rodney (Childers, Team Director) and the team have been all great. Rodney and I are clicking better and better each time we take to the track. I'm starting to understand where he's coming from a lot better, and the same with him when I give him information."

His love of flying causes him to glance at the non-stop action at Nellis Air Force Base next to the track between work tasks. An Army Veteran who has been flying for 3.5 years, Seaberg has owned his own plane for 2.5 years and said his dream flight would be to ride in a fighter jet.
