ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY RACE REPORT

ELLIOTT SADLER • No. 19 Hunt Brothers Pizza Ford Fusion

-Elliott Sadler posted his best qualifying effort of the season and rolled off the grid eighth at Atlanta Motor Speedway
-Sadler was involved in a late-race incident on a restart, but was able to hold on for a top-20 finish
-Sadler stands in 25th place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings

Race Summary:
Elliott Sadler rolled off the grid in the eighth position for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway and found himself struggling with the handling of his Ford Fusion right from the start. Crew chief Wally Rogers made adjustments to the car during nearly every pit stop and Sadler did his best to remain in the hunt, acknowledging that the car was turning better in the corners near the halfway point of the event.

Sadler was running in the 22nd position when problems on a restart resulted in damage to the No. 19 Hunt Brothers Pizza Ford. The Richard Petty Motorsports crew went to work to make repairs to the car and did so without losing laps in the process. Sadler lined up for the subsequent green flag in 30th place and when the field finally took the checkered flag after two attempts, the No. 19 Ford had managed a 19th-place effort.

Sadler on the Atlanta Event:
“It was a frustrating day. We took a shim out of the left-front shock and that hurt us a lot. The front end of the car kept hitting the race track and then we put a rubber in the right-rear and that kind of made it worse. Low and behold, that was the longest green-flag run of the day, so that put us way behind. We got our qualifying effort better on Friday, we just have to work on our communication and adjustments during the race.”
