Week Twenty Question

Question:  I am a very big race fan but also love to hear you talk about your hounds. I have foxhounds, just wondering if you ever do any foxhunting or just deer hunting with you dogs?

Answer:  We actually train our dogs in fox pens prior to the start of deer season. We want our hounds to be in great shape on opening day. It's similar to an athlete starting a new season or when you begin to workout for the first time in a while. We want the hounds to get their muscles and lungs ready for hunting. These hounds love to hunt so it's great to train them in a fox preserve where we can allow them to run but also be able to track them and pick them up before they've over exerted themselves.

I grew up with my Dad raising dogs. Now I raise them and Amanda has really gotten into it, too. Pedigree has been great to us over the years and provides us with everything the hounds need with their diet.

Great question. I take a lof of pride with my hounds. They are like my kids. I want them to be happy and hunt well. And when they do I'm happy!
