Week Nineteen Question
Question:
With all of the years you've been racing, which paint scheme has been your
ultimate favorite and why?
-- submitted by Tracy from Rockford, IL
Answer:
That's a tough question but the timing of it is perfect.
I've been fortunate to be a part of some very cool promotions. I remember
running the MDA car for CITGO at Darlington early in my career. It was a
beautiful car and was for a great cause. I've also run some cool paint schemes
for the United States Air Force with the Wood Brothers and M&M's (Groovy Summer,
Star Wars and the Black and White car) with Robert Yates Racing. But I'll have
to say the two closest to my heart have been the Autism Awareness paint scheme I
ran last summer at the Best Buy 400 in Dover and the Stanley car I ran last
October in Charlotte.
You guys know my niece Halie has Autism and my Mom is winning a battle with
breast cancer. It's special to have sponsors that step up and support causes
that are so close to my heart and my family.
This weekend we are running a pink Stanley Dodge to support breast cancer
awareness. It looks cool and hopefully will be fast. I met Nancy Brinker a few
months ago, the founder of Susan G Komen, and not only was she a nice lady but
she's very genuine in her efforts to win the war against breast cancer.
This weekend, and for the first time in my career, I'm actually running a
special steering wheel, which has the Susan G. Komen logo on it. The King is
going to wear a special pink cowboy hat. We're going to auction both of these
one of a kind items off after the race on SadlerFoundation.org.
This weekend carries a special meaning for me and my family and I know it will
for many of you, too. Hopefully we can go win the race this weekend in Charlotte
and the pink Stanley paint scheme I'm sporting can become my all-time favorite.
