ALLSTATE 400 RACE PREVIEW
STATESVILLE,
N.C. - Last season Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Dodge team led five
laps and raced to a fourth-place finish in the Allstate 400 at the
Brickyard. Sadler was able to conserve his tires and the No. 19 team
turned fast pit stops throughout the day to put the car in the top-five
at the end of the race. This year, Sadler will race the new Dodge R6P8
engine for the first time and is expecting to compete for his first race
win of 2009.
Sadler Quotes
ON OFF-WEEK PLANS: "I'm honestly just going to take it easy and go to
the beach. I'm headed down to Myrtle Beach (S.C.) with family to play on
the beach with my family and all the kids, playing some golf and really
just trying to take advantage of the time off to reset my batteries and
get ready to head into the second half of the season strong."
ON THE 2008 ALLSTATE 400 AT THE BRICKYARD: "It was a crazy race there's
no doubt about that. The tire situation was unfortunate for the fans,
but I think that NASCAR and Goodyear did everything they could given the
situation to make it the best race they could. It was kind of like heat
racing - 10 to 12 laps at a time. We had maybe our best car of the year
there last year and really had great pit stops all day long. The No. 19
team really gave a solid effort and we were right there at the end to
collect a top-five. This year I'm going to be racing the new Dodge R6
engine there, so I really feel like we are going to be fast and racing
for a chance to win at the end. This is the first time that we're
running that engine in the No. 19 this year so I guess you could say I'm
pretty optimistic based on what we've seen from the No. 9 over the last
couple weeks. "
