ELLIOTT
SADLER
INFINEON
RACE PREVIEW
STATESVILLE,
N.C. - Elliott Sadler, driver of the No. 19 Stanley Dodge, may not be
mentioned in the same breath as Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo
Montoya or the other so called, "road course aces" - but look at his
results for the two NASCAR road courses and that may change. Sadler has
the second most points of any driver over the last 10 road course races,
trailing only Tony Stewart, and is third in total points over the last
10 races at Infineon Raceway trailing only Gordon and Stewart. In fact,
Sadler has finished in the top-15 at Sonoma in five of the last seven
races, and four of the five were top-10 finishes.
Sadler Quotes
ON INFINEON: "In preparation for Infineon we went to VIR last week to
test and it went great. Infineon has always been a good track for me.
There's a lot of up hill and down hill parts of the track that make it
exciting and the esses are very fast. The double file restarts should
make for a very crazy race. Our plan will be to qualify well, keep it on
the black top all day, pass as many cars as we can and hope our fuel
window plays in our favor."
ON WINE COUNTRY: "Over the past few years I've learned to enjoy all
sorts of cabarnet and merlot wines, especially with steak. There are
some great places to eat in and around Napa. Press is probably my
favorite. Amanda has never been to Sonoma and this is her first week out
of school so she'll be out enjoying wine tasting and wine tours on
Friday."
ON FATHER'S DAY: "When I was growing up my father put a lot of time and
effort into making me who I am today, both as a racer and as a person. I
didn't really understand just what a commitment that was until I became
a man myself, took a step back and now I really appreciate everything he
did and does for me. I want to do the same for my kids someday."
