August 13th, 2009:
I just made it back to Emporia. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday deep sea
fishing in a fishing tournament in Nags Head, NC. I had a lot of fun. We
got off to a rough start only bringing in one of our first five fish we
had on the line. I grew up deep sea fishing as a kid with my Dad so it's
always nice to get back out there and enjoy it and reminisce.
We're off to Michigan this weekend and hopefully we can get the No. 19
back on track with a solid run. The last four weeks have been tough but
we're gonna keep fighting and hopefully gain some momentum this weekend.
We're sporting Stanley for the next three races on the No. 19. We're
also gonna have a lot going on off the track with Stanley especially at
Bristol. They are a great partner of ours. Tune into Trackside on Friday
night and watch the first segment with Kasey and myself. Kasey runs good
at Bristol in the Nationwide race and I've won there so we're hoping we
can get a couple of wins and raise some big money for the Children's
Miracle Network.
I've been playing softball when I have time. It helps me stay in shape.
We've been pretty hot lately so hopefully we'll win our league.
College football is around the corner, too. Va Tech and UNC are both
ranked in the top-10. That's pretty exciting. I'm hoping to make it to a
few games this year depending on how our schedule falls. It looks like I
may be able to make one of the first games of the year -- USC vs. NC
State on Thursday night before Atlanta. I am playing in Reed's golf
tournament that Friday morning at 10am so long as the weather looks good
I'm planning on going. I'm an ACC fan but I'm not an NC State fan. So
I'll be rooting for the Gamecocks. And, Tech opens that Saturday night
against Alabama. That's kicking off the season with a bang.
Hope to see you guys soon and to the fan club members that Hermie and I
have been hosting at the track, we hope you've enjoyed it as much as we
have. From the chocolate chip cookies to the candy gift baskets you guys
have been awesome. And, I'm glad we've been able to share a unique
experience with you guys.
I hope to see you soon around the track or in October at our fan club
party in Charlotte, NC
Oh yeah, Hermie is running the truck race at Bristol so keep your eyes
open for him next Wednesday!!
